Knock down system is a system used in constructing furniture which gives advantages in load ability. It is a disassembled furniture packed in compact flat box for easier and cheaper distribution.
The term ‘knock down’ is also known as ‘RTA’ (Ready to Assemble) or ‘flat pack’. This system was firstly discovered by Gillis Lundgren, the Swedian draftsman and it was first applied by IKEA.
Knock down furniture is usually packed together with assembling instructions and assembling tools. The assembling tools may contain several flat parts, fasteners, screws, fixings, and other parts that are needed to assemble the furniture.
